3 Steps To Getting Back On Track After Summer
We’re approaching the end of summer and beginning to wind down. Some of us may have one more vacation planned while we wait for our kids to start back to school. Or maybe, your kids have already started and you’re already getting back into a routine like I am. I’ll be honest to tell you that I’m sad to Summer end.
With Summer comes all sorts of events…reunions, graduation parties, vacations, etc. and it’s not uncommon to end the summer with a gain in weight. What’s wild is that the average person gains 8 pounds while on vacation! Did that happen to you? If so, please know that you are not alone. It’s happened to me too.
Here’s the thing though. Don’t let it get you down. You can do something about it. I want to share 3 steps towards getting you back on track.
1. Add fitness into your day. If you’re not working out already, I challenge you to do so. Find something fun to do and put that time into your calendar. Often times while Bailey was at soccer practice, I would walk in the same neighborhood. If other moms wanted to join me, than great. It became a time for me to clear my head, de-stress a bit and get some movement in. Aim for 5-6 times a week daily with whatever activity you choose to do and be sure to give it time.
2. Watch what you eat. It really is true that you are what you eat. This step is more important than step 1 because our bodies need healthy foods to keep it running at it’s best. Often times, we find that what we choose to eat can make us feel a certain way (lack of energy), can clear up our skin, help us feel better and more. If you’re not sure where to start, message me for a copy of my free meal plan or Schedule a Free consult with me.
3. Get Accountability and Support. Often times, people get frustrated because they aren’t seeing results right away and maybe some things need tweaking. A support group can help. There are times where step 3 has saved me from making a bad choice. In fact, just the other day, I reached out for help after wanting to go out for lunch. I was craving a big plate of spicy ranch chicken wings instead of the taco salad that I had planned. Total difference in calories, in portion sizes, everything! My group gave me the support I needed to help me be accountable in my own journey and to eat what I had planned. The craving disappeared and I stayed on track. Without help, it can become very easy to accept where you’re at and stay there. That in turn, can lead to even more weight gain. I don’t know anyone who wants that that is trying to lose weight.
So, my point with this post is this. You don’t have to stay stuck. You can move forward and do something about it. Get moving, watch what you’re eating and have a support system behind you all the way. If you feel like you don’t have one of the steps and aren’t sure where to start, please reach out to me. I’d be honored to help point you in the right direction.
