If you’re like me, you have a to do list that might be a mile long and some of those things that you want to do, you might have been putting off.  It’s time to change that.

Today I wanted to talk about procrastination and why you’re NOT achieving your goals.  There are four reasons that this can happen.

1. You lack focus.  This was a biggie for me.  At one point in my life, I was working on so many projects while trying to balance work and home.  Little did I know that if I had just picked what was making me happy, what I enjoyed doing and by setting boundaries, I would have actually achieved so much more.

Today, I encourage you to take a look at your goal list for the year and assign a target date for when you want to accomplish them. (If you’re not sure how to set goals, I share how to do that in another blog post.  You can read about that here.)Ask yourself if they are things that you truly want or not.  Then, take ACTION.  Those steps that you’re taking on something that you want to do will add up and help you reach your goal.

2. You’re lacking energy.  Okay, momma.  It’s confession time.  Are you taking time for you?  Are you resting or practicing self care?  If not, it’s time to make time for you.  Make sure you’re resting, relaxing, eating healthy foods and spending some time each day to move your body.  Promise me that you’ll do this. 😉  If you’re in need of some ideas, here are three to get you started.

3. You’re a perfectionist.  Is this you? Everything has to be in order before you begin.  You need to know the exact steps, who you’re working with, etc.  You feel that without those things in place, that it’s not the time to start working on things so you keep putting things off.

While, I totally get that and how uncomfortable that can feel, remember that even imperfect progress is better than no progress at all.  So start that workout program, work at home job or write the book you’ve held in your heart.  The more you do of something, the better you’ll get at it.

4. You’re scared.  What will my family think?  What about my friends?  What if I fail?  All totally legit questions and I want you to know that it’s normal to feel this way.  However, I want you to begin to trust yourself.  I want you to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and do things each day so that what scares you becomes easier and easier.  This is what I had to do to get to where I am and I’m so thankful that my mentor challenged me to do this because while I still get scared sometimes, I know that it’s just a matter of kicking fear to the curb and taking action that will propel me forward.
