Today begins our seven-day water challenge. I’m SO excited for those of you who have decided to join us.
For some, drinking enough water each day can be hard. At least it was for me in the beginning of my own “better health” journey.
In fact, I hated water. I hated that it didn’t have a taste. I guess that I can attribute that to all the sugary drinks that I had become accustomed to.
Now days, plain water doesn’t bother me a bit. I actually enjoy drinking it and prefer it to most drinks.
So, how was this water challenge born? Over the last few weeks, I’ve been slacking in the amount I drink eat day. I began to notice more inflammation, crankiness, headaches, etc. My body has been telling me it’s time to get back on track and I’ve chosen to listen. Other folks in our community have expressed the same.
Beginning today, my goal is to drink 32 oz. of water minimum and then increase to ½ my body weight in ounces over the next few days.
That’s only 4-8 oz. glasses today and totally doable for me. Here’s how I plan on doing so.
- As I’m getting ready for work, I’ll have an 8-oz glass of water in addition to my morning coffee.
- At lunch, I’ll have an 8-oz glass of water.
- At dinner, I’ll have an 8-oz glass of water
- Thru out the day, I’ll have an 8-oz glass to sip on as I work and it will be placed in front of me.
In addition, I know that I’ll be getting some water in from other sources. Many fruits and veggies have a good amount of water in them as well as the shakes I’ll be making. (I just use water and my shake mix and will have them for both my snacks tomorrow and take about 30 seconds to mix and shake.)
If keeping water on your desk isn’t an option or you have trouble remembering to drink thru out the day, set a timer. Many cell phones have reminder apps or even a reminder function that can alert you when programmed.
If you’re not able to start with 32 oz. of water today, that’s okay. Start where you can and then increase each day.
If you’re participating in the seven-day water challenge, I’d love to have you comment with what your goal for today is or how you plan on getting your water in.
Have a wonderful day!
With Love,
Laura
