Go Ahead and Cheat!

Go ahead and Cheat! Yep, it’s a little know secret that those who “cheat” once a week in their diets, tend to stay better on track.
Now instead of using the term “cheat meal,” I prefer to use the term “flex meal” and that’s what I will use for throughout this article.
So, what is a flex meal? It’s a meal in which you can enjoy, totally guilt free anytime during the week. Now you will notice that I said meal, not day and that is what I advise folks to do. Simply pick one meal during the week and decide to give yourself grace and ENJOY it.
Maybe you have been craving pizza or a bacon cheeseburger all week. Go ahead and indulge! Maybe you have a dinner plans with friends or maybe you were running late and accidentally left your lunch on the counter at home. The choice is yours to use this one meal wherever you see fit.
Just like any other meal that you eat, you will want to log it into your food journal and keep track. You want to continue those healthy habits, even if you are having your flex meal. Consistency in what we do helps us stay on track.
When you are working on losing weight, there will be times that you will be temped. Being able to look forward to a once a week treat can help motivate you to stay the course. And, the longer that you stay on course, the less you associate this flex meal as “cheating” on your diet. It simply becomes a way of life.
If you find that you’ve slipped this past week and had more than one flex meal, I simply want you to do this…Forgive yourself and decide that this week you want to recommit to a healthier lifestyle. Plan your meals and fitness for the week and do your best to stick with it.
