How Consistency Can Change The Outcome of Your Goal
By Laura Kelly-Pifer
Meet Teddy. He’s our new pup.
I don’t have much info on his background and we’ve only had him a month. We adopted him thru our local shelter and are guessing that he’s about 7-9 months old and possibly a lab/border collie mix. He’s an absolute doll!
I must admit that Teddy can be quite a handful sometimes. It’s like having a toddler in the house. I’m constantly wondering what he’s up to if he’s not in my eyesight. I’m sure you know exactly what I mean.
Teddy wasn’t potty trained when we got him and he loves to use our arms and hands as his dog bone amongst some other things that you might expect from a puppy. (I think he likes my arms and hands the best since I’m the one chewed up mostly. :P)
A few weeks ago, we decided that we needed help in his training and enrolled him in a dog obedience class. It was the BEST decision ever!
With this class, we have learned that we must be consistent with his training in order to have a good mannered dog. The commands that we give him are to be practiced daily.
When we don’t stay consistent with his training, and miss a few days, some of those old habits come back to bite us. (pun intended.)
Teddy might have an accident or he doesn’t respond like we would hope. Again, It’s all about being consistent with his training.
If you think about it, Consistency is really the key to most anything in life.
If we want to lose weight, there are day-to-day activities that we need to do to help us reach goal.
We need to make sure that we are eating the right foods each day to fuel or bodies.
We need to make sure that we are being physically active in some way each day too.
And, we need a loving and supportive system in place for when we do slip up because we ALL have times where that happens.
No matter where you are in your own journey, keep in mind that consistency can help you change the outcome of your goal. The more you practice it, the better you get at it.
If you are struggling with being consistent and reaching your goals, I’m extending my hand to you. I would be honored to help you.
With Love,
Laura
