Just Be You!
By Laura Kelly-Pifer
Every day on television, various websites on the internet and in magazines and on billboards, amazingly fit women and men are being portrayed.
How many times have you said to yourself that you would like to look like them?
You might have thought…”I wish my hips were smaller like hers.” Or, maybe, “I need to put on more muscle.”
I’ll admit that for me, it’s way too many to count. And I didn’t just try and compare my body to celebrities but also with friends and even family members. And I know I’m not alone. There are many folks who do the same thing, every single day.
Truth is..I never really learned to love my body. I grew up thinking I was fat no matter how skinny I was. And, it was just a few years ago when my “health” became a priority verses trying to look like a model on one of my favorite magazines, that things began to change, both physically and mentally.
This is what I learned…Our bodies are uniquely made. They aren’t made to look like anyone elses. For me, I know that even fit and toned, I’ll always be curvy. It’s who God designed me to be. And, I can’t compare myself or my own journey to anyone else.
Please know this. Just Be You!! You too, were uniquely made. Learn to embrace your own body and your own journey as well as where you’re currently at in it. Focus on eating healthy, daily exercise, positive support and feeling better. When you add that combination together, you’ll see your own set of amazing results.
Do you struggle with your body image? Let’s change it and work on it together. Meet me over on Facebook and let’s talk about it.
With Love,
Laura
