Just Do It!
By: Laura Kelly-Pifer
Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to talk with someone dear to me who reminded me that there are some things you just have to do and you can’t wait if you want to reach a certain goal. You know the saying, “Just do i!”? Well, that’s what their advice was to me and I did. THANK YOU for the reminder!
I know from my own experience and in talking with others that ideally, we would want to wait for the perfect time in our life or when everything seems to be in order but sometimes, those opportunities won’t wait for us. Life will go on and occassionally, we end up wishing that we acted on it. Regardless of what decision you made though, you can’t change the past but you can learn from it. And, the reminder of “Just doing it!” was good for me to hear because now I know I need to act on certain goals if I want to meet them.
Some of you might have goals or ambitions like I did. You might want a new job. You might want to lose weight. You might want to feel better. You might want to spend more time traveling. Whatever it may be, the time to begin working on those goals is now. Even if it’s little by little, your day to day actions will eventually get you there. I speak from the heart when I say that I find I reach my goals when I do this and that’s why I’m sharing this with you.
Let’s talk about one goals that I had; my weight loss. For years, I had said that I didn’t have the time to workout and I found myself close to being 50 pounds overweight when I finally made the commitment. I decided to look over my schedule and make fitness work. Some days, it was on my lunch break and walking around the block a few times. Other days, I could pop in Ten Minute Trainer DVD at various times during the day. And then there were times that I set the alarm clock earlier and I made myself get up, even when I didn’t want too. And, as a result of watching what I eat and working out, I’m half way to my reaching goal. I won’t tell you a story and say it’s easy. There are still days that I look at my calendar and think “When am I going to get things done?” but, feeling good is a priority for me and I don’t want to end up back to where I was so I make it happen and Just do it!
I had the opportunity of watching this video at one of the conferences that I attended and wanted to pass it along to you. It inspired me along with the words of a wise mentor on what I needed to do to reach certain goals. I hope that it motivates you as much as it motivated me. Enjoy!
Wishing you good health!
