Let’s HIIT it NOW!
By Laura Kelly-Pifer
Welcome to TurboFire is what I saw when I open up the guidebook last week to embark on my 12 week journey to a better body. You see, I’m closing in on reaching my weight loss goal and this is the program that will help me get there. How do I know? Read on….
As I started flipping though the guidebook, I began to read a letter from Chalene Johnson explaining how she had put the program together and what she had hoped we would get out of it. Being a Turbo junkie, I know Chalene well enough to know that what she puts into her programs is nothing but her personal best.
As a Fitness Coach, I know that TurboFire, simply put, has to be one of the most intense, calorie–blasting, cardio-training classes ever been put on DVD. There’s both cardio and stretching sessions. Through in a few HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workouts that work as “fire drills” and you’ve got yourself potentially burning hundreds of calories in one workout. But, I have a secret to share with you. Even knowing all of that, it intimidated me. I didn’t know if I could commit because of my arthritis and fibromyalgia. It had limited me from doing such an intense, day-to-day workout in the past and I didn’t want to fail. I convinced myself that I wouldn’t be able to do it because I’d have trouble keeping up or I wouldn’t be able to do all the moves. So, I gave in to that limiting self-belief and I chose to put it to the side. Occasionally, I’d pull it out from time to time and do a class but never the full 12-week round.
And so, there it sat and then BOOM! I just completed Ultimate Reset and was in a whole better place, physically and mentally. It was time!!! Because I had been exercising, eating better, drinking my Shakeology and allowing my body to heal, I felt better and my confidence in my abilities had grown. I decided to partner up with another Coach for accountability and like me, she has rheumatoid arthritis. We’re bound and determined to help one another reach our goals and we communicate in our Challenge Group and help one another other stay on track. It’s the same as what I do for my clients within my group. It’s a great system!
And, guess what I’ve learned? All those workouts I was leery of, I can modify to make the moves work for me and for my body. If I need to take a rest break than I do and I make sure that I warm up and cool down for every workout, bring my water and my towel with me.
So you might be wondering what’s so great about this program? Well, what makes this program FUN is the music. It’s a motivator for me to keep pushing myself and to get through each and every workout. And, yep, there are days that I’m watching that little clock tick at the bottom of the screen wishing my workout was done. But the energy and excitement I feel for the rest of the day has kept me coming back for more. I know that all the sweat and the hard work I put into this program are going to pay off for me. So, Let’s HIIT it now!
I can’t wait to share my results and my journey with you. And if you too, have decided lately to step out of your comfort zone and do something different, I’d like to hear what you thought of the experience and what you did.
Wishing you good health!
