What I Would Tell My 20 Something Self
This year is a milestone year for me.
It’s a new decade in my life. In August, I’ll be celebrating my 40th birthday.
There are other milestones too that will take place and these things really made me think about life and how things have played out to make me into who I am today.
As a young adult, I can remember trying to figure out all the stuff that I would hope would make me successful in life.
It’s with both gratitude and compassion that I look back on my life and just starting out. Here are a few things that I would tell my 20 something self.
Please don’t be so hard on yourself. You are wonderful just the way you are!
Be patient and willing to accept that things don’t always go as planned.
You live, you learn and you move on.
Be kind to you too! Speak lovingly to yourself and think good thoughts.
Give freely without expecting anything back in return.
You are doing the best that you can. Give yourself credit…it’s due.
It’s okay to say “No!”
Find some “me” time in each day. Work can wait.
Live in the moment. Time is not guaranteed.
Find your passion and the income will follow.
No matter what your past is like, you are loved!
Stop comparing yourself to others. You were meant to just be you!
Love your body and where you are at.
You don’t have to have all the answers right now. Life is like a puzzle and sometimes various pieces come at different stages of life.
Set boundaries. You can love people from a far.
Love people for who they are, not who and what you want them to be.
Be open and accepting of compliments.
Forgive those who have wronged you. This is a gift you give yourself. Not the other person.
You are not alone. Others feel the same way and are going thru things too.
You always have options. Never settle.
Find gratitude in each day.
What others think of you is not your problem. It’s theirs.
You are enough and don’t have to prove your worth to anyone.
Every step you take, even if slow, is still progress.
Thank you for allowing me to me to be so transparent with you. If you looked back on your life to date, what’s something that you would say to yourself?
With Love,
Laura
