You Gotta Have Faith
By Laura Kelly-Pifer
Almost 10 years ago, I went in to the Doctor, complaining that I felt that I had Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. My hands would ache and trying to do my job at my computer was getting harder and harder. I had trouble opening up baby food jars and the bags in the box of cereal. My fingers and hands just weren’t working anymore. I wasn’t even 30 yet. This made no sense!
After a few simple tests, Carpel Tunnel was ruled out and I had blood work done just to cross things off. A follow up appointment, confirmed that I had Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). I was referred to a specialist and there my journey began.
Later on, I would soon develop Fibromyalgia (Fibro) and be told that I could that there was the potential for other chronic pain conditions to develop. That was neither the news I wanted to hear nor how I had imagined my life to be. The years would pass…medication, no medication, and hours in bed because I couldn’t walk, being exhausted and frustrated because people didn’t understand why I was in pain when they couldn’t see anything wrong with me and so much more.
And then one day, I finally allowed myself permission to make changes in my life to fit my specific situation. I have to tell you that it was FREEING. That one decision set the course of events to give me the news I’m sharing with you today.
Today is not just “another day”. Those days are over and I am celebrating. I am BEYOND EXCITED to announce that at my last visit to my Rheumatologist, I show no visible signs of progression from the latest x-rays and my Rh factor (the blood test to tell how severe my RA is) shows NORMAL. Never in a million years did I think I would see this day. How did this happen? There were 3 main things that I decided to do.
– Give my life back over to God and use the power of prayer. Faith works!
– Surround myself with positive and supporting people that would lift me up and not bring me down. I had allowed too many people who were negative, made empty promises, etc. to influence me.
– Work better on my nutrition and add in exercise. Being consistent every day with drinking my Shakeology, eating that foods that didn’t trigger my pain and adding in exercise helped me not only feel better but lose weight.
I know those 3 components helped turn my life around. If there are things you want in life, it is possible too. You gotta have faith that you will get better, lose weight or achieve what ever your goal may be. I’m living proof that faith works.
Wishing you good health!
Laura
